Donation with lifetime or temporary usufruct?
Donations with usufruct are very commonly used by parents or grandparents to organize the transfer of their assets.
There are many reasons why a donor might wish to retain the usufruct of the donated assets.
The donor may, of course, wish to retain the income or enjoyment of the transferred assets for the rest of their life. This is particularly the case when the donation involves real estate. The donor may wish to continue to occupy the property—a second home, for example—or to receive income from it if it is rented out.
