Our vision

The Lazard Frères Gestion – Institut de France Foundation is a natural extension of the historically rich ties between the worlds of finance and art.


Countless masterpieces, which today constitute the world's tangible and intangible heritage, could only have come into being thanks to the combination of artistic genius and financial resources, united with foresight and knowledge in a quest for excellence.

Our philanthropic commitment is particularly close to our hearts. Our actions aim to serve the community by (re)granting access to accumulated heritage, contributing to the continuous enrichment of this heritage, particularly through education, promoting inclusive cultural initiatives, and most importantly, passing on Beauty to future generations.”

Our achievements

Since our Foundation was established, we have supported numerous prestigious institutions in restoring precious works of art and preserving our cultural heritage. These museums include the Marmottan Monet Museum, the Army Museum at Les Invalides, the Jacquemart-André Museum, the Georges Pompidou Center, the Maillol Museum, the Camondo Museum, and the National Library of France. For example, we contributed to the restoration of a fresco by Tiepolo at the Jacquemart-André Museum.

The Foundation has an annual program to support four restoration students in their fifth and final year of study at the Institut National du Patrimoine (INP).
In the same vein, in partnership with the CNSMDP, the Foundation supports three young classical dancers of the highest caliber each year who are registered in the prestigious Prix de Lausanne international dance competition. The financial assistance provided by the Foundation gives students additional resources to prepare for this event, which is a real springboard for their careers, in the best possible conditions.

Many of these initiatives share a common goal, which also represents one of the core missions of the Foundation: promoting and supporting the role of women in artistic creation.

Each year, the Foundation supports the activities of the organization 'La Cité des Compositrices,' which aims to address the absence of women in today’s musical programming. The association’s work in production, mediation, and dissemination revolves around research projects, the recovery of manuscripts, and the study of musical scores. Their collective of musicians uncovers, on a daily basis, works that have been unfairly dismissed or forgotten. The field of discovery is limitless.

Casey Whalen is a Managing Director, Head and Chief Investment Officer of Lazard Wealth. She began working in the investment field in 1996. Prior to joining Lazard in 2023, Casey served as Truvvo Partners’ CEO and Chief Investment Officer. She was a founding member of the firm and served on the Investment Committee. Prior to founding Truvvo, Casey held leadership positions in the endowment space including her role as the first Chief Investment Officer of The New York Public Library with a mandate to create the Office of Investments. Previously, she was Director of Public Investments for The Rockefeller University, served in various roles in the Yale University Investments Office and went on to work for one of Yale’s real estate investment managers, Brookdale Realty, based in Atlanta. Casey graduated with a BA from Yale University and is a board member of the Yale Swimming and Diving Association. She is a CFA® Charterholder and member of the New York Society of Security Analysts. Casey serves as the Chair of the Investment Committee of the Rockefeller Family Fund.
